Haraaz, Yemen

Coffee startedin Yemen.

Single-harvest coffee from the Haraaz mountains, direct-sourced and hand-sorted into grades. Same harvest. Same bean. Sorted to different standards.

The Grades

One harvest, three standards.

How we sort

From cherry to cup, sorted by hand.

Every grade starts as the same cherry on the same terraces. After harvest, the beans are sorted by hand. The strictest sort becomes Jawaher, the next Haraazi, the next Yemeni.

Nothing else changes. You choose how strict.

Kind words
“The Sidr Honey is really something different. I thought it would taste similar to any store bought honey, but it has a very rich and almost caramel flavor which I wasn't expecting. Truly something very tasty.”

Our Story

Azora Coffee Co. is based in Houston, Texas. We direct-source one harvest from the Al-Emadi family's farms around the village of Jarmah, high in the Haraaz mountains of Yemen, where coffee began, and sort it by hand into grades. Every grade is the same bean. The difference is how strictly it was sorted, and nothing else.

From the harvest

Picked by hand in Haraaz.

Every cherry is picked by hand on the mountain terraces of Haraaz, by our partner, his family, and the farmers who work beside them.

Questions

Shipping & FAQ

How fast do orders ship?

Orders ship from Houston, Texas within 1 to 3 business days. You'll get an email receipt as soon as you check out.

How much is shipping?

Shipping is a flat $10 within the US, and free on orders over $100.

What's the difference between the grades?

All three grades come from the same single harvest in Haraaz. The only difference is how strictly the beans were hand-sorted. Jawaher is sorted most strictly, then Haraazi, then Yemeni. The stricter the sort, the smoother the cup and the clearer the notes.

Where exactly does the coffee come from?

From the Al-Emadi family's own farms around the village of Jarmah in the Haraaz mountains of Yemen, about 100 km from Sana'a, at 1,800 to 2,460 metres. Since 2016 the family has been bringing coffee back to Haraaz, replacing qat with coffee trees. It's picked by hand between October and March and dried whole in the sun on raised beds.

Is the coffee whole bean?

Yes. Every bag is 10.5 oz of whole bean coffee. Grind just before you brew for the best cup.

How do I pay?

Checkout is handled securely by Square. You can pay with any major card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Cash App Pay. We never see or store your card details.

Do you charge sales tax?

No. Whole bean coffee and honey are grocery items, which are exempt from Texas sales tax.
